Nigella Pancake Recipe

We sometimes follow distinct food web-sites around the internet to get some fresh suggestions for pancakes that we may share on our web site. One of the awesome food web sites to visit would be the bbc food website. They have tons of diverse recipes. They also have quite a handful of pancake recipes and one of the extra preferred ones would be the Nigella pancake recipe. Well, basically it’s called homemade instant pancake mix with blueberry syrup but considering the fact that the author/cook behind this recipe is Nigella Lawson (she also features a nice food web site, take a look here) we named it simply Nigellas pancake recipe. Anyway, we tried it this weekend and decided to share it with one distinction – the original recipe would like you to produce a pancake mix. However our version will just make you one batch of pancakes that you will without any doubt consume straight away:)! And it’s in cups and spoons. Right here it goes:

Nigella Pancake Recipe Ingredients

* 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour, * 1 egg, * 1 cup milk, * 1 tbsp baking powder, * 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda, * 1/4 tsp salt, * 3-4 tsp caster sugar, * 1 tbsp melted butter

For the blueberry syrup

* 125ml/41fl oz maple syrup, * 200g/7oz blueberries

1. Initially mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.

2. Then slightly beat one egg and add it to the bowl. Add milk and melted butter. Blend until you’ve got a good and even pancake batter.

3. Take a non-stick frying pan or possibly a griddle and don’t include any oil. You will need a skillet that is in superior condition, if it really is full of scratches then you better add a drop of oil or butter.

4. Pour some batter on the hot griddle so you come up with a round pancake about four inches in diameter.

5. When bubbles appear on the top of the pancake turn it about and cook it on the other side until it turns golden-brown. Roughly 1 minute every single side.

Blueberry syrup

1. Place blueberries into a skillet and pour maple syrup over them then bring them to a boil. Next lessen the heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Blueberries ought to be slightly broken down.

Serving

Just pour the blueberry syrup above the pancake and enjoy. We did!:)

Oh, 1 more tip from Nigella – if you’re left with some blueberry syrup leftovers place them in to the fridge and it is possible to either mix it with some yogurt or place it on your bread.

This concludes “our” Nigella pancake recipe. Get pleasure from!

The author loves cooking pancakes and has a blog devoted to it. You can obtain recipes like this recipe among others. For a lot more of these recipes, look at pancake mix recipe.

What’s Your Favorite Fair Food? Corn Dogs!

Our family’s memories from the County Fair usually revolve around food. Once we step foot within those gates, we head straight to our favorite fair food, and that favorite food is corn dogs. There’s nothing better in our book!

Even though we have tried to recreate those fair food memories by buying pre-packaged corn dogs, it’s never quite the same. I don’t know if it’s the aromas or the taste, but regardless, the corn dogs you can get in the freezer section of the grocery store just don’t offer the same appeal. That is how we came to develop our own version of deep fried corn dogs made right in our kitchen.

Are corn dogs nutritionally balanced? Some might argue that eating a corn dog is really ingesting useless calories and fat. However, when you make corn dogs at home you can control the ingredients, making this treat something you can make more nutritious, and delicious.

Consider the hot dog. Years ago you really didn’t have much choice when it came to choosing a hot dog. Now you can buy relatively healthy hot dogs, some vegetarian, some low fat, some made with chicken or turkey, and of course, some still made with beef and pork. Whatever your dietary desires are, there’s probably a hot dog to meet it. You can even choose a hot dog that’s stuffed with cheese. Read the labels and you’ll find out there are healthy options available to you now.

You can make a lot of dietary adjustments in the coating, too. Use just the egg whites for the coating if you wish. Eliminate or cut back on the salt. Instead of using bleached flour you can substitute whole wheat flour. There are some pre-made corn dogs that even have sugar added, so you can certainly avoid adding more sugar to your diet by making your own corn dogs. Throw in some other spices for a little flavor surprise.

When you eat a corn dog at the fair, you don’t get to choose which oil they use or how many corn dogs were in the batch before yours. When you make them at home, you can make a healthier choice. Just be sure that you choose an oil that is suitable for high temperature cooking. Read the label of the oil before you decide. Many people deep fry using peanut oil, but there are other choices. Look at refined oils like sunflower or safflower, as well as corn oil or canola oil.

If you are using a deep fryer, be sure to follow the instructions provided. You can also use a heavy pan or skillet, but you need a good cooking thermometer if you do. When the oil reaches about 375 degrees you are ready to fry. Be sure to only fry a few corn dogs at a time because if you crowd them, the oil will cool down and the corn dogs will get soggy sitting in the cooled oil. Drain the corn dogs on paper towels spread out over a rack. Let them cool down and serve with your favorite dipping choice.

In the middle of winter when the County Fair is just a distant memory, you can recreate those warm, summer nights with a little “fair food.” Gather your goodies and get cooking those corn dogs! What a nice taste of summer!

Sandwiches are the ideal small dish to make for an important day with a large amount of guests. Hand held and bite-sized you can make them for brunch, tea parties, and even for dinner. Here are three great sandwich recipes for your special occasion.

Smoked Salmon Squares

Smoked salmon is the perfect sandwich for a brunch as it is savory, but still linked with bagels and lox. This recipe takes a spin on the conventional smoked salmon bagel.

Ingredients:

– 1 pack of smoked salmon
– 1 loaf of thinly chopped pumpernickel bread
– 1 tub of cream cheese
– 1 cucumber thinly cut, skin removed
– 2 stalks green onion, diced tiny

Take your loaf of bread and cut it into 4ths from corner to corner to make little triangles. In a small bowl, mix together your cream cheese and diced green onion. Take two pieces of bread, spread the cream cheese mixture thinly on each side, and add 1 layer of cucumber and 1 layer of smoked salmon. Stick a toothpick thru the sandwich to secure if you do not use enough cream cheese to make the sandwich stick together. Finish till your ingredients are all used up.

Gourmet Grilled Cheese

This sandwich is favored by adults and children alike. If you don’t like spice, leave out the sriracha hot sauce, but it is a wonderful hot sandwich good for a smorgasboard line.

Ingredients:

– 1 loaf of thinly cut sourdough bread
– 3 avocados, seeded, peeled and thinly sliced
– 1 block pointed cheddar, thinly cut
– Mayonnaise to cover the bread
– Sriracha, for flavour
– Salt and pepper

Take your sourdough bread loaf and cut off the crust. Take 2 pieces of bread: on one spread a delicate layer of mayo, on the other drip some sriracha (dependent on how spicy you love it). Layer with cheese and avocado, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and assemble the sandwich together. Roast on a griddle, skillet, or a George Foreman grill till crispy and the cheese is soft. Cut in fourths and serve.

Chocolate Banana Pudding Paninis

Here is a great dessert sandwich that will please your guests. It is usually nice to have something sweet to compliment your savoury sandwiches.

Ingredients:

– 1 loaf brioche, thinly cut
– 4 bananas, thinly sliced
– Nutella

Similar to the grilled cheese recipe above, take 2 pieces of brioche and spread nutella on each slice. Layer with bananas and throw on the grill till the bread is barely brown. Cut into triangles by slicing from corner to corner. Serve warm.
